Sonnet for a Friend
O, How should I call you; acquaintance? friend?
When in mind's eye you're more than that to me?
And should my feelings for you ever end,
It's end for all and all that is to be.
So, friend, tho' we should remain divided,
And in spite of fondness, remain apart.
This is the life which we have decided,
In fullness friendship always in our hearts.
Time has proven time's grace is forgiving,
And each road's fork towards this moment bent.
True I've found that life was meant for living,
and sweet memories ever present, sent.
For in reaching the student learns to teach,
And I have learned that mem'ries fondly reach.

of things past
Viking.
He crouched behind what was left of his Char-Broil 40,000 BTU 4-Burner Gas Grill, purchased with a credit card the prior spring, even though they were broke and he hadn't worked in months ('No interest for one year!').
What sounded like a very large pack of dogs scurried on the other side of the fence, made all the more ominous by the bark of small arms fire and the black smoke leaping from what was left of the apartment building across the street.
"Shit" he thought as the dogs scratched frantically at the fence, "I could have bought the Viking."
